We’re capturing more data than ever before. And we’re doing it more precisely. But we’re still not using data to its full potential. Used well, numbers can teach us about each other, inspire our creativity and help us take risks and innovate in our work.

The Challenge

Launched October 13, 2018, GigabitDCx attracted over 100 innovators and received 21 submissions. Proposed solutions leveraged advanced networking technologies to develop and demonstrate next-generation, gigabit applications addressing some of the cities most complicated problems; traffic and a changing climate.

During phase 2, semi-finalists worked to advance their concepts and build prototypes of their proposed solutions, tailored to DC and judges suggestions, for a chance to receive or split up to $34,000 in award funds. Finalists will also have the opportunity to work with the District of Columbia Government to beta-test their solutions, if able.

“Design is not making beauty, beauty emerges from selection, affinities, integration, love.”
